Today is the last day of autumn – and while I’ll shed a tear for the departure of vibrant fall hues, celebration of harvest fruits and the turning of the leaves, I welcome winter and it’s romantic whites, sparkly icicles and excuses for snuggling close by the fire! Here, a last ode to autumn with one of my favorite fall staples: apples!

While pumpkin and pecan might be the dessert of choice for Thanksgiving, cranberry, with it’s bright color and sweet-yet-tart flavor make for a wonderful addition to your holiday table. Cranberry topiaries are bright and festive, while filling vases with them make fantastic fillers for a pop of color. Cranberry pies and sorbets are a festive choice as well!

Everywhere we look, the rich vibrant hues of autumn oranges, reds and golds surround us. Indian corn, a multi-colored corn variety with it’s oblong shape and beautiful hues, are the perfect way to decorate your home or event in keeping with the colors of fall. I’m loving these glittering centerpieces, a variety in their true form, using the husks as votive holders and even inspired napkin rings to get the look.
