Mr. & Mrs. Gingerbread

Posted by Michelle

For a winter wedding, what could be more fitting for dessert than gingerbread cookies?!  I love the idea of a gingerbread couple as a cake topper… or even an entire gingerbread house, perhaps a replica of the place you met or where you’re getting married.  Take a look at this gingerbread recreation of the Stanford University chapel resting on top of a classic wedding cake – incredible!!

Let Them Eat Cupcakes!

Posted by Michal

Cupcake towers have been all the rage for weddings as a fun and colorful alternative to wedding cakes. I love this ice cream cone cupcake dessert idea for summer – a specialty-shaped pan creates oversized cupcakes that are not only gorgeous, but a different take on dessert that are sure to please guests.

A variation of this idea which is great for passed… Read More »

A Taste of NY Mag Wedding Event

Posted by Michelle

Michelle and I had so much fun at the New York Weddings Event, thrown by New York Magazine! We met some incredible photographers, caterers, planners and florists, and we certainly can’t wait to see more from them. We also ate tons of cakes and cupcakes, but the best of all (voted unanimously between the two of us) was the delectable cake from Ron Ben-Israel. It was delicious! For a chef who’s made cakes for Oprah, should we expect nothing… Read More »

Crafty Place Cards

Posted by Michelle

Last week I blogged about some beautiful escort cards, so today I wanted to share some elegant place cards that live up to them – these creative tags definitely won’t disappoint when guests finally arrive to their tables. What I love about these samples are how unique and functional they are, whether it’s making use of items already on the table like a wine glass or actually incorporating your appetizers into the place cards. I love the little origami heart…… Read More »

Sweets for Valentine’s Day Weddings

Here are some sweet inspirations for cakes and other tidbits for your Valentine’s day wedding or event! I love this unbelievable “Conversation Hearts” cake from the Cake Girls – how do they get that box to defy gravity!? A simple cake can be wonderfully romantic with real or sugar rose petals; vintage cake toppers invoke a nostalgic era long past; top chocolate desserts with raspberries and edible gold leaf for the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Snowy Treats Part II

Posted by Michal

When the weather outside is frightful… here are more winter treats that are sure to WOW your guests! Champagne toasts are made extra special by adding frozen cranberries as a garnish; nothing says winter like white peppermint bark; hot frothy cappuccinos are given that winter edge by adding cinnamon sticks as stirrers; chocolate milkshakes for dessert are treated with a peppermint rim; star shaped jelly cookies are dusted with crystalized sugar for a snow effect, then strung with ribbon to… Read More »

Fall Foods

Posted by Michelle

Ahh, fall is finally here and I just love this season. The rich colors, the crisp scents and especially, the sweet tastes! Favors of honey, maple syrup (candy and the real thing), caramel and candy apples let your guests take home a taste of autumn. Classic cheeses with fall’s fruits and some candy acorns also capture the beauty of fall, served right at your event.

Food Heritage

Posted by Michelle

Incorporate your theme or just your heritage into your event by styling your menu around the influences in your life. Try an Asian hors d’oeuvres assortment with accents of curry, spring rolls, tropical fruit or Peking duck. For something South of the Border, plantains serve as great crackers, and empanadas, ceviche, sangria and red peppers are the perfect Latin snack. No matter where you are from, comfort food embodies so many personalities. Guests are sure to love mini… Read More »
